Ogden boys 12th at State XC, Buxton medals

Senior Garrett Buxton highlighted the performance of the Ogden boys at the Iowa High School State Cross Country Meet here Saturday.

Buxton earned a podium placing with a top 15 finish, ending eighth in the 142-runner Class 1A field. Buxton covered the Lakeside Golf Course with a personal record time of 16:40.

“Garrett ran very well in his final high school cross country race,” said Ogden coach Ryan Kobliska. “We’re proud of the commitment to improvement that he’s shown in the past year after finishing 31st as a junior.”

Buxton’s effort was the Bulldogs’ fourth All-State runner since 2014.

The Ogden boys claimed 12th in the 1A team standings, matching the team’s state ranking at No. 12 previous to Saturday. The Bulldogs’ five counters scored 247 points.
