Ogden Alumni prepping for Bulldog Ball

Get out your dancing shoes because it's time to have a ball. The seventh annual Bulldog Ball is being planned for March 28 at the TK's Event Center in Boone.

"It's one of the best kept secrets in Ogden," said Matt Van Sickle, a member of the Ogden Community School District's Board of Education.

Van Sickle spearheaded the Bulldog Ball shortly after joining the school board, feeling that the district could benefit from an additional source of funding.

"It didn't take me very long to figure out that it would be nice to have a mechanism to come alongside the school district to raise money," said Van Sickle.

Van Sickle, along with his wife, Tracy, and their friend, Rick Albert, planned the first dance in 2014 as a way to supplement funds for school activities in the district, raising money to purchase items that the budget otherwise wouldn't allow for, raising $16,000 for iPads, PE equipment, marker boards, industrial arts tools, and more.
