Norma Boardman

  Norma “Jean” Boardman, 82, of Boone, Iowa, passed away at her home on Sunday, January 28, 2024.

  Norma Jean was the seventh of nine children born to Leonard and Irene (Johnson) Heard and was born on September 21, 1941, in Brushy Knob, Missouri.  At the age of 12, following her mother’s passing, her father married Mary McGinness Nannen.

 

  On May 31, 1961, Jean was united in marriage to Thomas Wayne Boardman at the First Methodist Church in Louisville, Nebraska.  They spent their early years in Weeping Water and Ralston, Nebraska, before moving to Ogden in 1978 and finally to Boone in 1996.

  

Jean may be best remembered as the Ogden High School Secretary from 1979-1995.  She loved to read real books and was so proud of and loved her four grandchildren.

 

  Survivors include her son, Tim (Amanda) Boardman of Huxley, IA; her daughter, Lea (Darin) Snedden of Mount Vernon, IA; grandchildren, Alix, Riley, Cale, and Mollie, all of IA; brother, Don (Mary) Heard of Springfield, MO; and her sisters, Lela Baker of Schertz, TX; Janelle (Joe) Whilden of Nampa, ID; Carol (Allyn) Meyer of Omaha, NE; and Kathy (Al) Cristallino of Collierville, TN.

 

  She was preceded in death by her husband in 2005.

 

  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in memory of Jean to an organization that cares for children or animals.
