Mary Haleen

  Mary Ann Haleen, 87, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. 

 

  A memorial service for Mary Ann will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden with Pastor Kimberly Belken officiating.  Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church on Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.  Burial will be held at a later date at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden.  Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden has been entrusted with arrangements.  For online obituaries and condolences, please visit: www.carsonstappfuneralhome.com

 

  Mary Ann Burt, daughter of John V. and Olga (Hanson) Burt was born on January 21, 1936, in Ogden, Iowa.  She attended Ogden Schools.  

 

  On October 26, 1952, Mary Ann was united in marriage to L. Kenneth Haleen at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden.  The couple established their home southwest of Boxholm where they farmed for many years.  

 

 Mary was involved with Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden and Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm throughout her life.  She especially enjoyed camping and boating with her family for years at Lake of the Ozarks and traveling.  Most of all she enjoyed time spent with her family and attending all of her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s activities.  

 

 In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Haleen; four sisters, Betty Elaine Burt in infancy, Phyllis Buckley, Alice Barnett, and Kathryn Miller; and her two brothers, Bill and Bob Burt.

  

Survivors include her daughter, Gail (Dr. Al) Schergen of St. Louis, MO; their children, Katie (Michael Bertram) Schergen and Kenny Schergen; her daughter, Kim (Rich) Larson of Ogden, IA; their children, Mary (Pete) Bergstrom and their children, Owen, Thomas, and Aaron Bergstrom; Amy (James) Hawcott and their children, Matthew, Ella, and Silas Hawcott; Mandy Larson and her son, Finley Gellerman-Larson; Scott Larson;  and many nieces and nephews.

 

  Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
