Kern Marlow

Kern Lewis Marlow, son of Kern Lewis Marlow and Helen Louise Mueller Marlow, passed away peacefully at his home on May 9, 2025 at the age of 73.

He was a longtime resident of Ogden, Iowa where he raised his beautiful family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather as well as a skilled carpenter and mechanic. You would find Kern outside in the shop working on his many projects for his loved ones. He spent countless nights teaching his children and grandchildren how to swing a hammer, measure twice and cut once, and how to get grease on your hands.

Kern graduated from Ogden High School in May of 1969. He served in the United States Air Force from 1971 to 1975 and was assigned to the Transportation Squadron at Altus AFB, Oklahoma. He was a member of the American Legion Post #55.

Kern met Kristine Stockman, the love of his life, and they wed on October 25, 1986. They lived happily together in Ogden, Iowa where they had two children, Karissa and Kourtney. Kern enjoyed traveling with family including his son-in-law, Tyler and his grandchildren, Tucker and Owen.

Kern will be sadly missed by his wife of 39 years, Kristine Marlow; two daughters, Karissa (Tyler) Bailey and Kourtney Marlow; his two grandsons, Tucker and Owen Bailey; two sisters, Judy Stroeh and Kathy Marlow; mother-in-law, Evelyn Stockman; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kevin and Darla Stockman; and several nieces and nephews.

Previously departed loved ones include his parents, Kern and Helen Marlow; sister-in-law, Lynn (Barger) Stockman; brother-in-law, Hans Stroeh; and father-in-law, Roy Stockman.

A visitation for Kern will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden, Iowa. Please note, Kern’s funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. Burial will follow his service at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden with Graveside Military Honors accorded by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
