Bonna Church

Bonna Kay Church, 81, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Monday, June 2, 2025, at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. Rev. Heidi Farmer will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday, June 1, from 4 - 6 p.m., at Carson ~ Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden.

Bonna Kay Jones was born on August 31, 1943, in Bethany, Missouri, the daughter of Robert Owen and Lela Uvon (Stephens) Jones. She graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1961.
Following her education, Bonna worked at Allied Insurance in Des Moines, Colorado, and Kansas City, where she met her future husband Garry David “Dave” Church. They were married on June 12, 1971, and blessed with two sons, Scott and Danny. Dave and Bonna returned to Ogden in 1975, where they owned and operated J & C Tiling Company, and later J & C Auto Parts with business partner, her father Robert O. Jones. She later worked for the U.S.D.A. in Ames for several years, and in 1993, owned and operated BK’s Sports Bar & Grill in Ogden, retiring after 20 years in business.
Bonna belonged to the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden.
She was an avid sports fan and supporter of the Ogden Bulldogs. Bonna bowled league in earlier years, and enjoyed following both her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, never missing a game. Her favorite teams were the Iowa Hawkeyes and Kansas City Chiefs.
Bonna is preceded in death by her parents, and former husband, Dave Church.
Survivors include two sons, Scott (Gina) Church of Ogden, IA, and Danny Church of Boone, IA; six grandchildren, Preston, Carter, Reagan, and Talon, Tacey, and Danielle; her sister, Bernetta “Bea” Purk Cannon of Ogden, IA; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
