Bulldogs best Tigers, fall against SH in Regional play

Monday night this past week marked the beginning of postseason volleyball play as the Ogden Bulldogs found themselves in 2A-Region 3. They began their journey on the road as they went east to take on their rivals, the Madrid Tigers. The Bulldogs were able to outlast the Tigers and took a 3-0 win to advance on to Wednesday’s game against South Hardin.

Ogden XC boys team qualifies for state, Spencer for girls

Thursday night held a 1A state qualifying meet as the Ogden Bulldog cross country team went south to Panora for the second time in as many weeks. With some familiarity with the course, the Bulldogs were able to battle against cold and windy conditions to find success. The Ogden boys finished in second place overall which punched their ticket to the 1A state meet, and Kayden Spencer was able to make it through as an individual on the girls’ side.

Ogden football falls in regular season finale, preps for playoffs

It was the final home contest for five Ogden Bulldog seniors as Lane Snedden, Kaden Moorman, Abe Christensen, Ashton Bell and Aidan Bradke. The Bulldogs had a tall task to slow down a powerful IKM-Manning running game, and they dug in as best as they could all evening, but fell 35-21 to end the regular season.

Bulldogs compete at tough WCAC meet

It was time for the West Central Activities Conference cross country meet this past Thursday afternoon as the Ogden Bulldogs took part in the race. They waded through a difficult field, and ran hard. The boys were able to finish fourth out of nine scoring teams, and the girls were sixth out of the nine scoring teams.

Ogden spikers tripped up in final two regular season games

It was the final two regular season games this past week for the Ogden Bulldog volleyball team. They were on the road for both of them and were unable to come away with a victory ahead of regional play.

Ogden began the week at AC/GC on Tuesday night and fell in three sets. The set scores were 6-25, 14-25 and 14-25.

Katelyn Ellis and Lana Wright paced Ogden in kills with four each. Emma Moorman had three kills and 10 set assists.

Lillie Ferguson had nine digs, Moorman adding four as did Alayna Gronseth. Ellis and Wright both had a block at the net.

Ogden hits a snag on the road against the Hawks

Sometimes in football the ball just doesn’t bounce a certain way. For the Ogden football team on Friday night, it was one of those nights where the ball didn’t bounce their way as they took on the Lynnville-Sully Hawks. The Bulldogs fought and battled, but the L-S run game ran wild as Ogden suffered a 51-15 setback.

The Hawks’ run game helped them to gain a 30-0 lead after the opening 12 minutes of the contest. The ‘Dogs continued to fight but trailed 51-0 at halftime as the continuous clock was in effect for the rest of the way.

Ogden boys XC continues to win, girls take 6th

It was the final regular season meet last Tuesday night for the Ogden cross country teams as they went to Lake City to participate in the South Central Calhoun Invitational. The Bulldog boys were able to get their fifth meet win of the year, holding off a talented Kuemper Catholic team. Ogden girls took sixth out of nine scoring teams.

Bulldog volleyball splits two games in triangular

It was a quick week for the Ogden volleyball team last week as they played just on Monday night in a triangular against Glidden-Ralston and Paton-Churdan. The Bulldogs were able to earn a split, falling to the Wildcats but beat the Rockets.

“The Glidden-Ralson match was competitive,” Ogden coach Tressa Rasmussen said. “Unfortunately we just fell short.”

The set scores were 25-15, 22-25 and 9-15.

Bulldogs suffer heartbreaking loss against Plainsmen

For all four quarters on Friday night, the Ogden Bulldog defense did all they were able to do to slow the Belle Plaine run game that had been racking up over 300 yards per contest. Ultimately, it was a pair of passes that sunk the Bulldogs on Friday night as a BP throwing score, and a two point conversion, hit Ogden like a gut punch in the final minute of the game, the final score 16-14 in favor of the Plainsmen

Bulldog boys win home meet, girls take 2nd

It was a Tuesday night to remember at Don Williams Golf Course just north of Ogden. The Bulldogs were hosting their lone home meet of the season and showed why they have been among the top teams in 1A this year on the boys side. The Ogden boys were able to take first place out of the seven scoring teams for the win. The ‘Dog girls finished second out of the six scoring teams.
