Take note of change in speed limit

You’ll need to let up on the gas a little from now on when coming into town from the overpass or leaving town on 1st Street. Ogden Police Chief Mick Bailey announced the following changes in speed limits:

The 45 mph speed limit sign which is currently just north of Veterans Drive (Casey’s corner) on 1st Street will be changing to 35 mph and continue south to the eastbound 220th Street (Highway 30) on ramp. Also, the 45 mph coming over north from H Avenue (Highway 169) south of the overpass off 220th Street (Highway 30) will switch to 35 mph and continue to Division Street. This will make the speed zone from Division Street south to the eastbound 220th Street (Highway 30) on-ramp 35 mph and vice-versa eastbound 220th Street (Highway 30) on ramp north to Division Street 35 mph. “This came about due to several requests from citizens to lower the speed limit at S 1st and Veterans Drive due to the increased number of children crossing the road there and the amount of traffic that is leaving Casey’s,” says Chief Bailey.

“The Department of Transportation agreed that it would be beneficial to lower the speed due to limited sight distance as you go over the bridge and cars are pulling away from the stop sign from the eastbound 220th Street off ramp.”
