Students get a look inside a Black Hawk

Students checking out the UH60 Black Hawk helicopter were cautious and heeded the warning “do not touch any of the switches!” Not that there wouldn’t be temptation while seated in the cockpit surrounded by all those gauges, dials and switches.

You could here it coming well before the Army National Guard chopper came into view. A group of OHS freshmen then watched as Pilots CW4 James Funk and CPT Brian Deets circled around and landed on the soccer fields just north of Ogden High School last Thursday afternoon.

SFC Shawn Bryant, who is with Recruiting and Retention Battalion of the Iowa Army National Guard, and members of C co 2nd 147th AVN National Guard unit out of Boone coordinated in bringing the aircraft to the Ogden school grounds.
