St. Edmond wins the battle of the unbeatens

The Ogden football team traveled to Fort Dodge to battle third-ranked St. Edmond on Friday evening for a chance to take the lead in the chase for the conference crown. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs weren’t able to pull off the victory, falling to the Gaels, 42-18, in Dodger Stadium.

“We ran into a very disciplined football team on Friday night,” said Coach Jacob Burger. “St. Eds wins as much as they do because they know how to play the game the right way. I would not say they are the most physical or most athletic team out there, though they show both those characteristics.  The biggest thing St. Eds does is bring great effort every single play and that covers any deficiency they may have on a given night.”

The Bulldogs were held to 334 yards of offense on the night by the Gaels.Junior tailback Austin Lentz led the way, pounding out 140 yards on the ground, including a pair of rushing touchdowns, while catching a 73 yard pass for paydirt.
