Sheriff's Report - March 30 - April 13, 2014

 

Sunday, March 30

10:57 p.m.: A deputy from the BCSO made a traffic stop in the 2200 Rose Road. After brief investigation the driver of the vehicle Kimberly Roberts was detained for further investigation into possible OWI.

A deputy observed a vehicle in the 200 block of 169 turn off its headlights and stop on a gravel road. After the deputy pulled in behind the vehicle. One person was outside the vehicle and two inside. After a brief investigation all three people, Alexandrea Lyons, Scott Swartzle and Steven Yorio were arrested for possession of a control substance and Yorio was also charged with being intoxicated in public.

Wednesday, April 2

A BCSO deputy made a traffic stop at Highway 30 and the Highway 17 off ramp. After a brief investigation the driver of the vehicle Kyle Boyer was detained for further investigation into possible OWI. He was transported to the BCJ for further testing.

Thursday, April 3

12:14 p.m.: The treasurer’s office at the courthouse called and needed assistance right away. A customer had become upset at an issue not involving the treasurers office but the subject was in their office making the staff and others uncomfortable. Sheriff Elsberry responded along with a deputy and resolved the situation. No one was injured and no arrest were made.

Friday, April 4

3:35 p.m.: The BCSO received a call from the 300 block of Greene St. in the city of Boone stating there had been shots fired at a residence. Officers from the BPD and the BCSO responded. The investigation into the incident remains under investigation by the Boone Police Department. No injuries were reported. 

7:17 p.m.: The BCSO assisted the Ogden Police Department with a domestic situation in Ogden in the 400 block of S.E. 2nd st. There were no injuries and no arrest were made.

Saturday, April 5

12:31 a.m.: Deputy Twigg made a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Highway 210. After a brief investigation the driver of the vehicle Joshua Yager was detained for further investigation into OWI. He was transported to the BCJ for further testing.

Monday, April 7

9:20 a.m.: A person called from the 700 block of 210th to report a theft from a vacant house. A deputy made contact with the caller and took the report. The investigation is continuing. 

2:38 p.m.: A person called the BCSO 911 center to report that he fell asleep and drove his semi into the ditch just west of Highway 169 north. The semi was loaded with cattle but stayed on its wheels. Two tow trucks were called and traffic was rerouted for a short time. There were no injuries reported.

5:46 p.m.: A person called the BCSO to report her son may want to harm himself. The person is living in the 1200 block of Linn. Officers from the BPD responded and attempted to locate the individual. After a brief search the officers from the BPD requested Sgt. Wingate and K-9 Bandit to continue the search. K-9 bandit began a search and indicated to Sgt. Wingate that the person was still on the premesis. A search of some out buildings in the area was done and the subject was located and taken to the hospital.

Tuesday, April 8

12:37 p.m.: A person called to report an accident at Highway 30 and T Ave. A vehicle driven by Mark Umthun was stopped at the stop sign at T Ave. A car driven by William Pedersen was westbound on Highway 30. According to Pedersen the other vehicle driven by Umthun pulled across the westbound lanes, Pedersen thought they would hit so he hit his brakes, lost control and struck the Umthun vehicle which was now in the crossover. There were no injuries reported, and no charges were filed.

Friday, April 11

5:45 a.m.: A person called the 911 center at the BCSO to report a vehicle rolled over in the median. The caller advised there were no injuries. A deputy from the BCSO was sent to the west Ames exit where the rollover occurred. The driver of the car Karl Krieger was taken into custody by state troopers for further testing for possible OWI. Krieger was also wanted out of Ames for possession of a controlled substance.

The BCSO along with the counties fire departments were kept busy with numerous grass fires throughout the day. There were no injuries reported in any of the fires.

Saturday, April 12

11:46 p.m.: A deputy made a traffic stop just west of Story St. for running through the stop sign at Story and Highway 30. After a brief investigation four underage people in the vehicle were charged with minor in possession of alcohol. Darrell Pamkin Jr., Ramond King, Haley Fundermann, and Tyler Whitfeild-Tinsley were cited and released.

Sunday, April 13

The BCSO received a call of an accident with minor injuries at the intersection of Highway 144 and Clover Ave. A car driven by Danny Cannon slid through the intersection and went into the ditch because of surface condition due to the snow. Cannon was transported to the Dallas County Hospital in Perry for treatment of minor injuries. No charges were filed.
