Services for Ruth J. Ott

Ruth J. Ott, 86, of Boxholm, Iowa, passed away Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 at Westhaven Community in Boone.

Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 25 at the United Methodist Church in Boxholm. Pastor Alaire Willits officiated. Burial was at Renner Cemetery, rural Boxholm. For online obituaries and condolences please visit: www.carsonstappfuneralhome.com

Ruth Jean Anderson was born Aug. 3, 1928 to Clarence and Veva (Conklin) Anderson, in Boone, Iowa. She attended Boone Community Schools.

On Oct. 28, 1944, she was joined in marriage to Leo L. Ott, while he was serving in the United States Navy during World War II. To this union three children were born, Donald Lee, Veva Maria, and Janet Rae. 

Ruth and Leo moved to the family farm after he returned from the service and she enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her family. After her children were grown, Ruth entered the work force working for Ruben Lundberg Implement in Dayton and Kelly Insurance in Fort Dodge. She was an active member of Boxholm United Methodist Church, a member of the Boone Elks Club and Credit Women’s Professionals. Ruth and Leo enjoyed traveling to many conferences with co-workers and friends as a representative of Credit Women’s. After her retirement they enjoyed their winters in Arizona for 17 years.  

Ruth is survived by one son and two daughters, Donald Ott, Eureka, California, Veva (Dick) Teeters, Ogden, Iowa, and Janet (Jim) Stewart,  Bunside, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Ryan and Justin Ott, Annette (Dave) Bojevsky, Michele (Joe) Overturf, Jennifer (Craig Fjelland) Teeters, Sean (Melinda) Stewart, and Shane (Kerry) Maline; nine great grandchildren, Koa Ott,  Jessica and Austin Glaspey, Issac and Kennedy Overturf, Shelby and Hunter Bojevsky, Shelby, Chad and Timothy Stewart; two great, great grandchildren, Delanie Nissen and Aspen Glaspey; one sister, Harriett Bentley and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  

       Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Veva Anderson; husband, Leo; one sister, Maxine Munsinger and 8 brothers, Eldon, Donald, Francis, Max, Clarence (Buddy), Arthur, Robert and Willard Anderson.
