Scouts experience "Wild West" adventure

The Boone County Summer Day Camp was a two-day camp adventure held at the Scout Cabin in McHose Park Friday and Saturday, July 11 and 12. Cub Scouts and parents experienced a fun-filled, rootin’-tootin’ Wild West Adventure! Scouts participated in Native American Indian folklore and games, panned for gold in the McHose Creek, hiked through the wilderness and even made their own walking staff. They leaped saddles and swung from ropes as they raced through a wild west-themed obstacle course. Other activities included archery, BB shooting, Ultimate, and an all time favorite of the scouts, water bottle rocket launching.

Cub Scout Day Camp is an annual event offered for Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, and Webelos Scouts. Day Camp introduces Cub Scouts to the outdoors and helps them develop outdoor skills while having fun outside. It is organized by the Mid Iowa council and ran by parents and volunteers.  Program directors were Andy and Jamie Pelleymounter from Ogden Pack 155.  The staff was made up of a number of volunteers including den and pack leaders, parents, grandparents and staff from the Mid Iowa Council.
