Prepare for an entertaining evening Feb. 20

OHS musicians will be anxious to showcase their talents during a Jazz Band/Show Choir concert Tuesday, Feb. 20, beginning at 7 p.m. at the high school.

In their first performance of the season, Jan. 29 in Marshalltown, the Bulldog Beat Show Choir received a Division I rating. Coping is is the Dutch Masters Classic in Pella, Saturday, Feb. 17. Their home performance Feb. 20 is followed by the Ram Showcase Saturday, Feb. 24 at Southeast Polk High School. And finally, the group will compete Saturday, March 3 at Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School.

This year’s set includes: “Fighter” by Christina Aguilera (soloists Camryn Buxton and Aidan Skalicky); “I’ll Make a Man Our of You,” from Disney’s Mulan (Patrick Glenn, soloist); “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” by the Andrews Sisters; “Fight Song” (soloists Natalie Keenan CJ Buck, Aidan Skalicky, Joe Sells, Claire Thede); and “Ballroom Blitz (soloist Bryce Stevens).

Pit musicians are Mranda Wheelock (alto sax), Aubrey Keenan (alto sax), Emma Blair (tenor sax), Allea Klauenberg (trombone), Jared Tonsfeldt (trumpet), Alex Bebb (trumpet), Jack Clayton (guitar), Hannah Booth (bass), Carter Stonehocker (synth), and David Emerson on piano.

“The Bulldog Beat would like to thank the community for its whole-hearted support of this great Ogden tradition,” says Director Michael-Huey Jones. “We hope to see you at the home show.”
