Playoffs ahead; Dogs travel to Avoca Wednesday

With the regular season in the rear view mirror, the Ogden football team (7-2, 3-2) will travel to Avoca Wednesday night to battle AHST in first round action.

Despite their 75-6 win over West Monona on Friday evening, the Vikings, haven’t been much of an offensive juggernaut this season.

“AHST is one of those triple option teams so it’s tough sometimes to figure out who is going to hurt you on any given night,” commented  Bulldog Coach Jacob Burger.  “They don’t particularly throw a ton but just looking at statistics they are balanced. What that tells you is when they do throw, they have a tendency to hit big plays.”

Turnovers prove costly for ’Dogs in regular season finale

In the final regular season contest of the season, Ogden found themselves with a turnover issue.

“Turnovers,” said Coach Burger,  “are something that are just difficult all around. Not a lot of positives to be found when you turn the ball over and I think any coach would agree with that. I don’t know if we necessarily lost the game because we turned the ball over, but it did hamper our ability to catch up once we got down. Offensively speaking it was frustrating because typically in big games we have done a decent job with the ball but the past two weeks we have been taking some shots that haven’t gone our way.”
