A perfect October celebration in the park

Although the air was crisp and cool to start, Oktoberfest festivities were not deterred. In fact, several reported the crowd seemed bigger than ever.

It takes a village to put on a celebration like we know it in Ogden in October. It is such a ‘coming together of community.’ Churches, businesses, groups from within our school and town all bring an activity for people to enjoy. Food fills the air with wonderful and tempting fragrances. Kids’ faces light up with a new ‘tattoo’ from Peoples Trust and Savings Bank or face paint, individually placed by a cheerleader.

Football players toss a football to children, and sign autographs on request. Beautiful mums are sold at bargain prices in one corner, while hand made items are on display along the sidewalks. The Lucky Pig hosts a ‘Pig Pong Game’ that proved very popular with youth, while next to them kids placed a nose on the pumpkin and won a real pumpkin as a prize hosted by Vision Bank. Roger Eshelman takes tourists on a fun hayride, while the Ogden Firefighters and First Responders give rides in the fire truck and kids get to ride ponies nearby.
