Patricia Ahrens

Patricia I. Ahrens, 74, of Ogden, Iowa passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at her home in Ogden.

Pat’s wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life Service for Pat will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Water’s Edge Church in Ogden. Pastor Mark Lee will officiate. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Patricia Irene Koenig was born on September 25, 1946, in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of James and Shirley (McCray) Koenig. Pat was raised in Boone and graduated with the Boone High School Class of 1964. She furthered her education by attending DMACC, where she received her Associates Degree in Dietary Management. Along the way, Pat also took online courses and earned her Bachelor’s degree.

On January 17, 1964, Pat was united in marriage to Robert Ahrens in Boone, Iowa. The couple resided in Boone where they were blessed with three children, Deborah, Lou Ann and Mike.

Pat worked for several businesses in the area, before becoming a nursing home dietary manager. She also worked in dietary management for the Boone Public Schools for over 12 years. In 2006, Pat began her career in Mental Health Services. Her love for children, led Pat to become a foster parent in which she faithfully cared for many children for over 25 years, with her love and support.

Her hobbies included crocheting, feeding the birds, riding her bike and exercising. She also enjoyed stock car racing. Pat especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her three children, Lou Ann Ahrens of Boone, Deborah Ahrens of Ogden, and Mike (Jill) Ahrens also of Ogden; six grandchildren, Caden Pooley, Caleb Pooley, Amber Anderson, Anakin Larson, Mikael Lage, and Stephon Ahrens; 10 great grandchildren; one nephew, Jim Koenig; and her cousin, Karen Jean Crouse of Des Moines. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her sister in infancy, Tomicinia Koenig; her brother, Thomas Koenig; her grandson, Mikial Pooley and her cousin, Ginny Weltha.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
