Ogden volleyball team is under new leadership

Character, competition and chemistry will be the main focus of the 2015 OHS volleyball team says first year head coach Ranee Carter.

From day one Carter knew it was important to begin building trust and credibility not only with the players but parents as well.

“When you have trust and respect, it is easier to work out on the court.”

Not only did she have her players working on skills at volleyball camp the first week of August, Carter also emphasized building relationships, team work and unity.

“It takes six people on the court to win a match,” she pointed out to the players. “They needed to retrain their brains to play together while having fun doing it. And I told them ‘if we all think we can do this, we will win matches.’”

In volleyball, Carter explained, communication is huge, more so than a lot of other sports.

Wins have been hard to come by for the Bulldog volleyball team so having a winning season and making it past the first round of regionals seems to be an attainable goal for the Ogden squad. They have already got a taste of winning, having beaten a quality St. Edmond team during a team camp at the University of Northern Iowa last month.
