Ogden softball goes 2-1 this past week

The Ogden High School softball team certainly brought their bats as they scored nine or more runs in each game this week. They started the week in good fashion, beating West Central Valley 14-2 in just four innings. Then came a double header on Thursday night against rivals Des Moines Christian. In the first game they came up just short, losing 10-9. The second game was more like batting practice for Ogden and they ended up winning 17-3 in four innings.

Ogden 14 - WC Valley 2

The softball team was led by great pitching and hitting in their 14-2 demolishing of West Central Valley.

The last game Ogden played against West Central Valley, they won at the end of the fifth inning 14-2, but that game was characterized by West Central’s mistakes, as evident by Ogden only having five hits that game. This time, Ogden made the win happen on their own terms, earning 13 hits on 26 at bats. So every other at bat they had a hit. They were on fire. They were also walked three times.

Everyone at bat except for Maddy Loecker acquired a hit for the Bulldogs but even she earned an RBI. Five players had two hits, eight players had at least one run, and seven players had an RBI. Denali Loecker led the way with two hits, one run, a double, a home run, and four RBI’s.

The Bulldog pitching was also very good last Tuesday night. Junior Kennedy Kruse got the start and struck out five batters in the four innings. She allowed four hits and two runs which is solid when considering she didn’t walk any batters.

This was a great way to bounce back after losing three games at a tournament in Woodward the weekend before.

DM Christian 10 - Ogden 9

In nail biting game where neither side knew who was going to get the game winning run, the Bulldogs fell to Des Moines Christian 10-9.

Des Moines Christian jumped out to a big lead, scoring four runs to Ogden’s one in the opening inning. After a scoreless second inning, the bats came alive with Des Moines Christian scoring three to Ogden’s five, leaving the game 7-6.
