Ogden gives Madrid an old- fashioned thrashing

Offense was the name of the game in a cross-county battle in Ogden on Friday evening as the Bulldogs downed Boone County rival Madrid, 63-36.

“This was my first opportunity to be part of this old rivalry,” commented Coach Jacob Burger. “The renewal of Ogden vs. Madrid is a good thing for both communities because it gives both teams the opportunity to play in a big time environment early in the season.”

The game lived up to its billing as both teams rolled up huge offensive numbers.

For the Bulldogs, senior signalcaller Cayce Good led the way by completing 18-of-23 through the air for 364 yards and three touchdowns.

Luke West proved to be his favorite target, catching 14 passes for 227 yards and two scores.

Twin brother Jake West added two catches for 43 yards.

Also catching touchdown passes were Good, on a 37-yard pass from Graham Tews and Austin Lentz on a 70-yard pass from Good. Owen Haberer pulled down a 24 yarder. On the ground, Lentz rushed for 211 yards on 26 tries and three scores.
