Ogden gals advance to state!
Ogden girls golf placed second in the regional final and advanced to the state golf meet scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
The Bulldogs placed second in the first round of regionals and then claimed the second qualifying spot in the finals last Monday at Oskaloosa.
After a score of 90, Bulldog Maranda Wheelock slid into fifth place and also qualified as an individual.
Pleasantville at 390 and Ogden, 397, advanced from their region. Columbus Junction finished at 401 and West Branch 403.
Jester Park in Granger is the site of the class 1A and 2A state golf meet.
Carter leads Lady Dogs as they advance to golf’s regional final
Hannah Carter was low scorer Monday, May 16 at Woodward and was one of five individuals who advanced to the Regional Final meet held Monday, May 23 at Oskaloosa (after presstime.)
Not only would Carter be playing the following Monday, but her teammates as well. The Bulldogs placed second overall and earned a chance to compete in the Regional finals. Both Ogden and Pleasantville were in a battle all day with the Trojans edging Ogden by five strokes for first place.
Columbus and West Branch advanced on the other side of the Regional bracket.
Carter was medalist at 84 strokes, followed by Pleasantville’s Hannah Gordon at 85 strokes.
Bulldog Maranda Wheelock placed sixth out of 47 golfers, carding 96. Her teammate Kylie Nichols finished at 99 strokes, good for seventh placed. Christina Vinchattle stroked 198 and Harlie Vinchattle, 110. Ally Rubin ended the day at 117.
