Ogden Fire Department host recognition picnic

Many of Ogden’s firefighters were recognized for their years of service during a recognition picnic on Saturday. Fire Chief Rick Sturtz helped to plan the event after deciding to ‘bring back’ the awards after not having the budget to do them over the last few years.

Chief Sturtz spoke briefly to thank the volunteers for all they do, and to update them on the current projects that have been happening within the department, such as applying for grants to update the city’s Jaws of Life equipment.

Ogden fire currently has approximately 15 members on the department, with those recognized having served the area from anywhere between five and 50 years. The plaques that were made to recognize them were solid wood engraved with member names and the number of years they have spent with the department.
