Not just a student body, but a Bulldog Nation

This month Alfred B. Dogden is sporting a medal that represents the “No-namers” group, one of 15 Districts that make up Bulldog Nation, a new concept OHS Principal Jenn Peter and Athletic Director Ben Van Wyk are hoping will take hold at the high school.

Bulldog Nation is about opportunities for leadership, helping students become more connected, encourage independent learning and helping these young adults get ready of life past high school explains Peter. “Our goal this year was to just get the fledgling program started. The sky’s the limit as to where it can go.”

Last December, seniors were invited to apply to be a team leader. They each submitted names of five students with whom they had connections. Two or three of them would be included in that leader’s “District” when the remaining student body was divided. Districts consist of 13 to 15 students each.
