New thermal imaging cameras for Ogden Fire Department

Rick Sturtz, fire chief, displayed the two new thermal imaging cameras Ogden’s department received as a part of a grant from the Leonard A. Good Trust. 

The two cameras and two on board chargers the firefighters will have with them at all times cost almost $11,000. Replacing the decades old ones, which cost nearly as much as the new, brought a whole new level of technology to bare. Besides being smaller and lighter, they have many more functions. Used for search and rescue, they identify hot spots which more readily help firefighters know where people are. Since they are made for this particular use, they are extremely valuable.
