Making their parents proud

This year’s elementary winter concert took on a different look from the past years.
Kindergartners started the evening of Thursday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. with some holiday favorites. They were followed by first through third graders performing a show titled, “Elfis and the Frozen Princess.” In that show, everyone was excited because Arctic-renowned Elfis was coming to perform at the Snowflake Festival. The King and Queen invited everyone in the Kingdom, except the Abominable Snow Princess and her two friends, Freezerburn and Fjordy. After crashing the Festival, she took her revenge by casting a freezing spell on their daughter Snowella. Songs included The Festival, He’s Cool, Frozen, Open Up Your Loving Heart and Rock it Royally.
Fourth and fifth graders closed the evening with a show, “Crazy Carols” that featured seven well-known carols with imaginative new lyrics from the students’ perspective, such as wishing for snow days, the holidays, presents and most importantly, a break from school. Their whimsical songs included, The First Snowfall (The First Noel), They Test You, Merry Gentlemen (God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen), Our Good Principal Looked Out (Good King Wenceslas), Clean the Halls (Deck the Halls), Why Can’t You Just Sit Still (Still, Still, Still), Joy to the World, My Shopping’s Done! (Joy to the World) and Rap on the Rooftop (Up on the Housetop).
