Lucky Pig gets a new owner

Five years ago when Craig and Carol Christensen bought the restaurant they named “The Lucky Pig Pub & Grill,” their goal was to build a great place with great food to help support the community.

They accomplished that goal and built a business whose success could be measured by the lineup of cars on the street. It seemed the cars would start rolling in around eleven o’clock for lunch and a new lineup would present itself towards evening.

The Christensens also arranged events which seemed to magnify the patronage. Celebrations like St. Patrick’s Day with a menu of corned beef, cabbage and green beer; Hogstock Street Party complete with a bags tournament, pork cook-off and a bacon eating contest; and Halloween Party with costumes and a karaoke contest all brought people to Ogden’s main street business. Of course being named ‘the best pork tenderloin in Iowa’ added a new level of success and reputation.

As it turns out, there was little luck involved, more like a lot of hard work and commitment on the Christensens’ part. And with their hard work, their goal was met.

The Lucky Pig Pub & Grill has become a ‘go-to’ place for locals as well as others who have heard of the reputation.

“Every single day I’ve been here,” the new owner, Randy Russell says, “there has been at least one customer who is a first timer.”

Randy Russell has purchased The Lucky Pig Pub & Grill and his goal is to “keep it going as is. I want to keep a good thing going.”
