Kyler Kiner Youth Wrestling Tourney Saturday

The first annual Kyler Kiner Memorial Youth Wrestling Tournament will be held at the Ogden High School here Saturday (Jan. 25).

The tourney was developed this year and will continue in future years in memory of Kiner, according to Ogden wrestling head coach Jesse Sundell. He noted part of the profits will go to fund a scholarship in memory of Kiner, who passed away this past fall.

Kiner was well-known in the Ogden wrestling circle. He was a former Bulldog matman followed by the Head Youth Coach and a Volunteer High School Coach.

Kiner was a highly-decorated Ogden wrestler, posting an impressive 137-6 win-loss record between 2011 and 2014. He qualified for the state tournament four times and was a three-time state place winner – fourth, second and third. As a senior, he was undefeated and ranked No. 1 before he suffered a should injury and was forced to withdraw from the state meet.
