Jim Mowrer on the campaign trail

“Our government is broken.” According to Jim Mowrer, that is the sentiment around Central Iowa.

“There are 39 counties in the 4th District and what I hear most is that Washington is broken and Congress is broken.

“They are unhappy with the president and unhappy with Congressman King,” says Mowrer, who is challenging Rep. Steve King in the November general election as the Democratic candidate for the Iowa District 4 Congressional seat.

Mowrer, an Iraqi War veteran and a member of the Iowa National Guard who spent 3 ½ years at the Pentagon in a civilian position, has returned to his home state. Mowrer included Ogden on his list of campaign stops visiting the Ogden Reporter office Friday morning, Sept. 19. As a youth, Mowrer attended  elementary school here. The family moved to Boone following the unexpected death of his father. Mowrer was seven years old at the time.
