Iowa National Guard Supports Boone County Freedom Flight

There’s a two part plan to help bring funds to the Boone County Freedom Flight.

First Annual Warrior     Ready Day

On Saturday, Aug. 29 from 2 to 5:30 p.m. the First Annual Warrior Ready Day is planned at the Boone Municipal Airport 424 Snedden Dr., Boone.

Bring your family for a fun-filled afternoon with the men and women who serve and protect our country.

The Warrior Ready Day is an opportunity for families in Boone County and surrounding communities to meet the men and women who serve in the Iowa Army National Guard and experience the vehicles, tools and machines they use on a daily basis as they serve our community and defend our nation.

Sit in the cockpit of an Army helicopter, or take control of the  unmanned aircraft simulator. View local WWII-era fighter planes and armored vehicles, zip down a zip-line or scale a rock wall. There is something for all ages.

The Static displays are from 2  to 4 p.m. with helicopter operations starting at 4 p.m.

After spending a day with our home-town heroes at Warrior Ready Day, you are invited to meet and support those who have served our community and nation in the past as they host a dinner and dance for all ages to raise money to send our veterans on a  special trip to Washington D.C.
