Hockemeier pleads guilty to theft

A 66-year-old former Ogden woman could face up to 10 years in prison after being charged with intentionally misappropriating funds between August 2007 and July 2014. Myrna Hockemeier  went before the court Tuesday, March 7 and pled guilty to theft in the first degree, a Class C felony. She could also face a maximum fine of $10,000.

Hockemeier was accused of stealing over $484,000 from her mother-in-law, Marie Hockemeier, during that seven-year time span. According to her ex-husband Rudy Hockemeier, his then-wife had obtained a debit card from his mother’s bank account in 2007 then proceeded to spend his mother’s life savings. He filed for divorce in 2014 after discovering the theft.

In exchange for her plea, state prosecutors dropped the more serious charge of ongoing criminal conduct.

Sentencing has been set for April 24.

Marie is currently a resident of Gowrie Care Center in Gowrie.
