Girls take second at SE Valley

The Ogden girls track team continued to improve to the point where they even placed second as a team at the meet at Southeast Valley Tuesday, April 18.

Ogden first started off the week with a trip to Southeast Valley where they ended up with 101 points. That was a little back from South Central Calhoun’s 172 points, but this was Ogden’s best performance of the season. It shows they are on the right track and it showed in all of the events. This is even more remarkable seeing that Ogden was out five athletes.

A big highlight for Ogden at this meet was the distance races. In the 3000 meter race, Hannah Booth and Camyrn Buxton ended up in first and second place. Booth was first with a time of 12:11.89 and Buxton finished with a time of 12:34.57. Booth wasn’t done there. She also finished first in the 1500 meter, 15 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.

In the long jump, Gabby Diggs was 2 inches from first place but second was a great consolation prize. Sadly, she tweaked her knee which prevented her from taking part in any other events. In the 100 meter hurdles, Abbi Lentz was inches from first, only .03 seconds behind.

Head coach Dena Boyd was very pleased with her team’s performance.
