Eunice I. Sterner, 85

Eunice I. Sterner, 85, of Ogden, Iowa, died on Tuesday morning, November 9, 2021 at Westhaven Community in Boone.

 

Funeral services for Eunice will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Community United Methodist Church in Ogden.  Pastor James Buckhahn will officiate.  Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Moingona.  Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Carson-Stapp Funeral Home Ogden.  For online obituaries and condolences, please visit: www.carsonstappfuneralhome.com

 

Eunice Ilene Sterner was born on May 4, 1936 in Ogden, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Velma (Campbell) Wolf.  She attended Boone County Country Schools and graduated from Ogden High School in 1954.  Eunice was united in marriage to Clair L Buzzell on August 7, 1955 at the Community United Methodist Church.  They lived a military life that included moves around the country in the years they were married and welcomed two children.  Eunice returned to Ogden following Clair’s death in October of 1971.

 

Eunice married Morgan W Sterner on June 6, 1980 at the Community United Methodist Church Ogden. They lived in their home in Ogden until January 2021 when Eunice moved to Westhaven Community in Boone.

 

Eunice worked for many years at Johnson and Son’s Insurance in Ogden, where she became the office manager and a licensed insurance agent.  She worked at Johnson and Son’s until her retirement in 2003.

 

Eunice was a member of the Community United Methodist Church where was active in the United Methodist Women and Seekers Bible Study Group and many other church activities.  Eunice and Morgan enjoyed traveling and camping. She also enjoyed playing cards, dancing and music.

 

She is survived by her husband, Morgan; daughter Gayle Buzzell of Des Moines, IA; son Brian (Lila) Buzzell of Ogden, IA.  Three siblings, brother, Richard (Virgina) Wolf of Garner, IA; sisters, Carol (Richard) Justice of Manchester, IA; and Betty (Gene) Svensen of LaVista, NE. brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Darrell and Connie Buzzell of Ogden; step-daughter Marie Slovensky of Salt Lake City, UT.  Two grandchildren Shannon (James) Sloan of Ames, IA, Brandon Buzzell (Hannah) of Aurora, CO. Three step-granddaughters in Salt Lake City, UT; and three great grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Clair in 1971.

 

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or Suncrest Hospice of West Des Moines.
