Elizabeth Warren unveils plan to build new farm economy and invest in rural Iowa

Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren released a new plan this week to reform the agricultural economy and make substantial investments in rural quality of life.

“Our small towns and farmlands are as essential to the American experience and the American economy as our cities and suburbs,” Elizabeth said. “I’ve got a plan that holds big corporations accountable and ensures our government is investing in the American people and the communities they live in.”

Elizabeth’s plan would ensure the ag economy works for family farmers by creating a new supply management program, which studies show would guarantee farmers fair prices in the market while saving taxpayers billions of dollars. Her plan also calls for dramatically expanding the Conservation Stewardship Program by increasing its funding fifteenfold, making it economically feasible for all farmers to be part of the climate change solution and building new local and regional markets for agricultural products.
