CC teams take the course; Thompson wins Greene County Invite

Ogden cross country runners opened their season Thursday, Sept. 11 at Greene County.

While the high school girls team is made up of all freshmen, the boys’ squad returns five of its seven varsity runners from last year’s conference runner-up team. In addition, they are joined be several freshmen who are competing for varsity spots.

“After a good summer of training, we are hoping to build on last year’s progress and continue improving,” commented Coach Ryan Kobliska.

The boys will again be led by the duo of Trey Thompson and Andrew Stumbo. Thompson repeated as conference champion last year and qualified for his second state meet. Stumbo finished second at conference and narrowly missed earning a trip to state.

Kobliska says senior Evan Klicker had a productive off-season and is poised to make a nice jump from last year. Zane Buxton is another returning varsity runner.

In the mix for the remaining varsity spots are senior Garrett Kahler and freshmen Jacob Hinman, Blake Gregory and Gershom Levi.
