CC runners prep for WCAC meet this Thursday

The cross country team had an up and down week as the boys finished with 5th and the girls 11th at a very packed cross country meet at South Hamilton.

The boys ran very well with Andrew Stumbo once again leading the way. He blew past the competition enroute to first place. That was very impressive considering the number of runners there as there were 15 total teams participating.

The next Ogden runner was Jacob Hinman at 28th. Following him was Blake Gregory at 38th. Rounding out the top fifty was Gershom Levi at 45th and freshman Garrett Buxton at 50th. That was good enough to put Ogden at 5th place out of 15 teams and 162 points. Gilbert ran away from the competition with 39 points while second place South Hamilton ended up with 106.

The girls team didn’t do so great with all the number of competitors invited to the meet, though they still had some tremendous individual performers. Hannah Booth was stellar once again. She finished 12th overall with a time of 21:51.66. Camryn Buxton also ran extremely well, crossing in a time of 22.49.43.

Despite those two’s great runs, Ogden didn’t have the best team score. They fell to 11th place out of 13 in a meet with plenty of talented teams. Ogden ended up with 220 points, a far cry from first place Collins-Maxwell-Baxter’s 40 points. That being said, CMB kicked the competition as second place Gilbert High School ended up with 122.

The Bulldogs will be competing with conference foes this Thursday  at Lake Panorama during the WCAC meet.
