CC runners Booth, Buxton medal for the girls; boys team continues to impress

The high school boys team finished fifth of 13 teams in a very competitive meet Oct. 7 at Lake City. The eighth-ranked Bulldogs were the second highest 1A team, finishing 8 points behind #4 Alta-Aurelia.

Ogden’s Trey Thompson pulled away from the pack before the halfway point of the race and led the rest of the way for his fifth victory of the season. Andrew Stumbo gave the Bulldogs a strong second score with a sixth place finish. Coach Ryan Kobliska said Evan Klicker ran very well the second half the race and earned a medal after placing 15th. Zane Buxton and Jacob Hinman were the final two scorers for Ogden.

“We don’t typically see fast times at this race due to the hills and sharp turns,” said Kobliska, “but Camryn Buxton finished with her fastest race of the season. She won a medal for  her 18th place finish and has made major improvements over the past couple races.” Hannah Booth also medaled with a 17th place finish.

Garrett Kahler ran a strong race to lead the JV boys group. “He was competitive with the leaders of the race and earned a medal for sixth place,” commented his coach.
