Candidate filing for City Election on Nov. 3 is Aug. 24 - Sept. 17 in the Auditor’s Office

Boone County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Philippe E. Meier has announced that Candidate Filing for the City Election, which will be on November 3, begins on August 24.

Individuals wishing to run for an office will need to fill out an Affidavit of Candidacy Form and a Nomination Petition containing signatures of eligible electors. The number of signatures required varies based on the population of the city. Boone candidates will need at least 25 signatures, Beaver and Berkley will need at least 5 signatures and all other cities will need at least 10 signatures.

Meier recommends that all candidates get more than the required number of signatures in case some signatures don’t count based on acceptance guidelines. Forms are available at the Auditor’s Office, on the Iowa Secretary of State’s Web site at www.sos.iowa.gov and at the City Clerk’s Office in all cities located in Boone County.
