Bulldogs continue strong batting going 3-2 for the week

Overall it was a great week for the Ogden High School softball team as they went 3-2 against quality competition. They led for most of the game at Woodward-Granger before falling 8-4. Then, behind great batting, they picked up two wins in the double header at Guthrie Center. On Friday in a tournament, they lost to Saydel 8-7 but beat the Ackley softball team 3-2.

Wood.-Granger 8 - Ogden 4

Despite leading for five innings, six runs in the sixth inning catapulted Woodward-Granger to an 8-4 win over the Bulldogs.

Behind a strong pitching performance by junior Kennedy Kruse, the Bulldogs were up 4-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth. In that inning, Woodward-Granger turned it on and finally started hitting the ball. They ended up scoring six runs that inning and that pushed them over top for the last two innings.

Head Coach Mike Moses wasn’t sure what happened that sixth inning which caused the explosion of runs by Woodward-Granger, but he knows that if it wasn’t for just for that one inning, Ogden would have left with the win.

“We were playing really well until then. Kennedy was pitching a heck of a game and wasn’t that high on her pitching count, I think she was around 70,” Moses said. “I’m not sure what happened in the sixth. If she wasn’t throwing with the same speed, or her placements were off, but suddenly they were hitting and hitting them big.”
