Bulldogs’ Haub captured GOLD at Manson

The first ever OHS “Kyler Kiner Hammer of the Week” went to Blake Haub for last week’s incredible performance going 6-0 with 6 pins. On top of that, Haub also won the Manson Tournament Title.

A gold medal performance was posted by Ogden’s Blake Haub at the Doug Wood Wrestling Invitational here Saturday, Dec. 7. Haub captured first place in the 220-pound weight division. The senior dominated the seven-wrestler bracket with three pins.

The second-seeded Haub capped the three-pin day with a quick 48-second fall over Alta-Aurelia’s Brandon Mier in the finals. Haub flattened Alex Koch of Hampton-Dumont at 2:30 in the quarterfinals and in the semis, pinned Colton Willis of South Hardin at 1:24. Kale Munson was a second medal placewinner for the Bulldogs, taking third at 113-pounds.

Munson opened with an 18-2 technical fall in the quarterfinals and then lost by tech fall to top-seed Donavan Hanson of West Bend-Mallard in the semi-finals. Munson won a consolation by fall in 55-seconds and for third, outscored Kevin King of South Central Calhoun, 12-10.
