Boys get their second win over Madrid

The boys basketball team finished their last week of regular season by ending their 8-game slide with a win at Madrid.

On Tuesday night Ogden came into Madrid’s gym after not winning a game since the middle of January. Ogden didn’t play like a team struggling though, snatching the win from Madrid in the fourth quarter 52-48.

Ogden started off behind 12-7. Madrid was shooting well from behind the arc and had some good post play. The Bulldogs struggled to get good looks, passing around the arc and the middle of the zone but couldn’t find too many easy baskets.

That all changed in the second quarter when Ogden started hitting some shots. Ogden ended up scoring 19 points compared to Madrid’s 12. Ogden carried a 24-16 lead going into the locker rooms. Madrid was aided by a late three-pointer as time was nearing expiration.

Ogden’s hot streak didn’t carry on into the third quarter where they scored in the single digits again. Because of that Madrid regained the lead, this time 38-35. At this point, you would think a team on an 8-game slide would be demoralized and continue to fall. Ogden though has great leadership and strong kids mentally and they regrouped and played a great fourth quarter which led them to a 4-point win.
