Boone County Conservation hires new park ranger for Swede Point

Boone County Conservation has welcomed a new park ranger to their ranks, as Blayne Sunstrom takes over duties at the 128-acre Swede Point Park and campground near Madrid.

Sunstrom will be in charge of park maintenance and upkeep as well as law enforcement, and also maintains many other properties around Boone County managed by the Boone County Conservation Board.

A 2011 Ogden High School Graduate, Sunstrom attended DMACC pursuant in a degree in criminal justice. After graduating, he attended the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in 2015 to earn his certification, and began working for the Eagle Grove Police Department after a short stint in Jefferson.

As a Boone County native, Sunstrom had been looking for an opportunity to make his way back home in order to be closer to family who still lives in the area.
