Baseball program for third through sixth graders

Manager Chad Thede said they had been talking the past two years about organizing a youth baseball travel team. Their purpose was to give youth the skills to perform at a higher level once they begin athletics in the school system, by offering a more competitive environment.

The Ogden Bulldogs Youth Baseball program got off the ground this summer. During what Thede terms “an experimental year” three one-day tournaments were scheduled.

The 10U (ten years and under) travel team competed in a tournament May 6 in Fort Dodge. A second tournament took place Saturday, June 16 in Belmond with the 5th and 6th grade team.

So as not to conflict with Ogden Fun Days events, the final tournament, hosted by Ogden, will take place Sunday, June 24 at Howe School fields and will consist of a 3rd/4th grade division and a 5th/6th grade division. (Watch for their float in the Fun Days parade.) Ogden Music Boosters will be have a concession stand open throughout the day. Concession proceeds will go towards funding the next Florida music trip.
