Austin Flynn returns to state

The Ogden High School wrestling team will be traveling to Des Moines to cheer on one of their members as Austin Flynn qualified for the state tournament.

At 126 pounds, Flynn was a favorite at the district tournament this weekend. He justified the hype by steamrolling over his first opponent in the opening round. Flynn pinned his opponents 57 seconds into the first round. There he faced a familiar foe in Sherman Hayes from East Union. Last week at sectionals Flynn actually pinned Hayes. This week the tables turned and it was Hayes who won with a 6-5 decision.

All was not lost for Flynn, who had to win the second place to qualify for state. Flynn was up against Tyler Strasser from North Mahaska. It was a hard fought match, but Flynn had control from the start. He ended up winning with a 7-2 decision which sends him right to state! Congrats Austin Flynn!
